A Lordess Of Leisure
A problematic cultural conception is misinformation about Leisure.
Most people say leisure time is reserved for when you are “free from” your responsibilities.
We understand this because we’ve been trained to believe that we have “work time” and “off work” time. Work is work; play is another thing.
In reality, we, as alive and thriving beings, are technically “on the clock” twenty-four / seven.
It is to diminish one’s own energy levels to assign such black-and-white thinking to the totality of our existence. Really, the healthier mentality is to recognize Time as one continuum; with frames for a variety of activities.
Leisure is the time management skill of energizing oneself at a comfortable pace, while factoring your other responsibilities into the bigger picture. It means while there is always work to be done, you have the ability to exert yourself in a relaxing fashion, remaining mindful that your pace will change. This is a mode of processing your complete being into flexible compartments, so as to create space for a multitude of engagements throughout the span of your lifetime.
The achievement of leisure is meditative. It is to exert oneself in expressions of calm, cool, and collected. It is to compose oneself in an intentional manner that feels altered from the hustle and bustle we can find ourselves caught up in, in daily living. Leisure is a wellness practice, just like exercising or creating art. To leisurely enjoy oneself means making time for your Qi to experience recreation mindfully.
In properly attaining moments of leisure, one must exist presently, without past or future hindering them. Once there, any outward expression you produce is the result of your leisure. And the sensation of yourself in doing so is quite pleasurable. Perhaps therapeutic in ways.
My intention is to lead a lifestyle characterized by absolute leisure, without separation into slavery and freedom, or busy and lazy. To manifest three hundred and sixty five reasons that today is meant for nurturing what sustains your soul in good tune. Stay chill, yet occupied pleasantly, my friends.
